I met Chaykin at a con a couple of years ago, and was nervous about meeting him. I have found a lot of his work to be overly brutal and needlessly sexed-up.
He was the most friendly, genuine, likeable pro I have ever met. I had a handful of the Evanier Blackhawk comics with his covers for him to sign and he talked excitedly about each one as he signed them. Great guy.
Thanks for sharing, Tonebone. I love hearing positive stories about artists and writers! I need to revisit Chaykin's graphic novel version of Alfred Bester's Stars My Destination book. It's been a while since I've read it, but recall it being terrific (as is the original novel)!
