Rob's Room: Toys of Christmases Past

2020 has me feeling nostalgic and thinking of all the amazing toys I received as a kid!  Here's a (partial) list of my favorites. So much gratitude for the wonderful childhood I was given. I should note that many of the toys received were picked up at yard sales (as my mom like to point out, "money doesn't grow on trees" haha!).

I would love to hear about your favorite toys in the comments section below!

Atari 2600
Tin Can Alley
(I grew up shooting bb guns in my backyard, but I could still target practice in the evening - when my step-dad would give me turn with this toy he bought me! Haha!)
Big Loader Construction Set
Revell Goodyear Blimp
(This might be the first Christmas gift toy I remember opening up... I think I was too young to learn how to operate it properly... but I still loved it!)
Mattel Cylon Raider
(A neighborhood kid swiped this from me right be fore he moved away... I suspect my trust issues stem from this incident! Haha!)
Kenner Star Wars Millennium Falcon & Action Figures
(These were my pride and joy! Years later, I remember coming home from college and going to pull out my childhood toy box only to discover my mom had given them all away to a younger cousin. It broke my heart... and my mom still laughs not realizing how much it would traumatize me. As you can tell, I'm over it now... really...! Haha!)
Milton Bradley Star Bird
(I loved this one more than the Millennium Flacon...  Read my larger post here!)
TSR Dungeons & Dragons
(This one was controversial as my Grandma feared for my soul's eternal damnation.  Similar controversy over my soul arrived later when I started listening to Rock and Roll music.)
Dark Tower
(My parents regretted giving this one... because I would want to play it at 8am on Saturday mornings and it was loud!)
Mego Action Figures
(I recall having Spock, Spider-Man, Batman and Robin.)
USS Enterprise Die Cast
(ok... this one is a cheat since I didn't actually own it.  It belonged to my neighbor friend.)
Kenner Six Million Dollar Man
(I remember finding this action figure and transport at a yard sale for a couple bucks... I felt as though I'd found the Holy Grail! "Steve Austin... Astronaut..." )
Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle
(I feel like every child of the 70's dreamed of being Evel Knievel... I think I picked this up at the same yard sale as Steve Austin!)
Stretch Monster
Wilson "The Juice" Football
I don't know why (I wasn't a huge football fan), but I loved this neon orange football! Who could've predicted what would happen to The Juice over a decade later...?
Mattel Suckerman
(A random toy that I loved... spent hours throwing it around and sticking it to windows/walls!)
Tomy Puckman
(Not Pacman! A favorite memory was snooping and finding this toy hidden away weeks before Christmas. Since I was a latch-key kid, I played this every day before actually received it as a gift! I think Puckman could only "eat" in one direction.)

I had quite a few of these, but the Big Loader was something my Dad bought and set up under & around the Christmas Tree. I never knew what it was called or whatever happened to it. Cause I never saw it again after that one Christmas. But now I know what it was called at least!

Evil is the greatest toy ever. The bike could not be destroyed.

Poor poor Evil... that guy drove into walls, down stairs, and off the roof of my house. You're right, Cal... he was invincible!
