It's funny... some of the older "Who's Who" entries list his first appearance as House of Secrets and Swamp Thing series' from the 70's... the later stat sheets list Saga of the Swamp Thing #1 as the first appearance. I wonder why they choose to ignore the previous continuity, when even the Alan Moore stuff is based upon the Wein/Wrightson foundation?
