Jim Steranko International Convention of Comic Book Art Show Promotion "The Conventioneers" Page 2 Nick Fury Original Art (Phil Seuling, 1968). This historic piece of the Comic Book Industry has a lot going for it! Not only is it Steranko art featuring Nick Fury, the story was written by Phil Seuling for a promotional piece for his first ever "International Convention of Comic Book Art" held in 1968 as the Statler Hilton Hotel in New York City. Seuling is remembered as the father of the modern day comic convention.
This piece shows a multitude of comic characters filing into the convention. It features the convention name and the hotel name as well, making this a true "time capsule" piece. Characters on the page with Nick Fury and Dick Tracy include: the Human Torch, the Thing, Spider-Man, Captain America, Little Abner, Little Orphan Annie, Pogo 'Possum, Popeye, Mandrake the Magician, Flash Gordon, Charlie Brown and Snoopy, Krazy Kat, Jiggs, the Spirit, Batman, Clark Kent, Wonder Woman, the Golden Age Flash, the Silver Age Flash, Hawkman, Plastic Man, and more. The page was created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 9.25" x 14.25". It is signed and dated 7-6-68 by Steranko in the lower margin. There are pinholes in the corners, and the page is toned. The image area is still in Excellent condition.
