Joe Kubert's Hawkman and Hawkgirl Drawings for Auction (via The Bristol Board):
Two Costume Concept Drawings in Ink dated 1958/59 of Hawkman and Hawkgirl. 6"x10" and 10"x8" sheets with what appears to be the first concept renderings of the Silver Age Hawkman and Hawkgirl. Dated in Kubert's hand with notes on the Hawkmansheet "Suggest Mask (as in original Hawkman) to "Strike Fear in the Hearts of Evil Doers".. If Logical Reason For Flight Is Necessary, Could Have Rocket Strapped in back, bewteeen wings..." Each piece is signed by Kubert. These drawings were pinned for years to the corners of Joe Kuberts drawing table until put away for safe keeping by his wife. These are truly pieces of Comic Book History. The Silver Age Hawkman had his debut in 1961 in Brave and Bold #34, these drawings weredone two years prior to that. These come directly from the Joe Kubert Estate and have been in the possession of the artist and his family since their creation.
