Behind the Scenes
Plot: In an alternate universe, the Justice League is a brutal force that maintains order on Earth. Superman is the son of General Zod, who was rocketed to Earth as a child and raised by a family of Mexican immigrants. Batman is Kirk Langstrom, a scientist who has inadvertently transformed himself into a vampire in an attempt to cure his cancer. Wonder Woman is Bekka, who was the bride of the New God Orion. However, the Justice League's unaccountability is challenged by the world's governments following a the suspicious deaths of renowned scientists.
On-Line Tie-in: In the weeks before the debut of the film, a three-part series, Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles, that will focus on the characters and the universe of the film is scheduled to be released online on Machinima. The series is the first collaboration between Warner Bros. and Machinima, following the former's investment of $18 million in Machinima in March 2014. The series is also the first production of Blue Ribbon Content, a digital content production unit of Warner Bros. formed in 2014 and led by president of Warner Bros. Animation Sam Register.
Comic Book Tie-in: A prequel digitial-first comic book series written by J. M. DeMatteis and Bruce Timm will be released concurrently with the film. The first issue will focus on Batman and be illustrated by Matthew Dow Smith; the second will focus on Superman and be illustrated by Moritat.
Release: will be released on DVD and Blu-ray, and as a download, on July 28, 2015. Blu-ray versions include a documentary exploring the various attempts by writers that produced the feature, a Making of video, an encore presentation of the 2010 documentary about Jack Kirby’s New Gods, an advance look at the next feature, and bonus cartoons from the DC vault.
