Dork Note: Supergirl LOVES her some Popeye's Chicken!
Original Test Footage Costume
Fun Fact: The headband Supergirl started wearing in 1984 and was wearing when she died in Crisis on Infinite Earths was added at the request of the movie producers, who wanted DC's Supergirl to look like the movie version. DC agreed to the change... and then the producers changed their minds. Above is a pic of the screen test of Helen Slater wearing the headband.
Dork Note: I have not found any video of this test footage.
Fun Fact: The film, directed by Jeannot Szwarc, had its running time slashed by its North American distributor from its 125-minute international cut to 105 minutes for the North American theatrical release, and slashed even further to 92 minutes in broadcast network airings and syndication packages. Cut scenes included a "flying ballet" in which Kara discovers the powers she has on Earth.Supergirl was released on DVD in both its 125-minute International Cut and a 138-minute. The longest cut known to exist (the original rough cut was 150 minutes), although no one knows exactly who created it, and the director had no knowledge of its existence. The elements for this 138-minute cut were discovered by accident in a container labeled “Do Not Use”, and it was believed to be a cut intended for TV syndication, as there are expletives which have been dubbed or cut completely.
Dork Note: I just ordered the Supergirl Limited Edition, because I want to see the original cut, but I also want to have the more kid-friendly version for my daughter to watch.
