Alan Davis first tackled Batman in Batman and the Outsiders. He then went on to this short run on Detective Comics.
To this day these issues are some of the best looking Detective Comics ever made. The stories are fun and expressive, both in story and art.
Nearly everyone of these issues appears in other TPB compilations from Batman: The Greatest Stories Ever Told Vol. 01, Batman: Scarecrow Tales TPB, to Stacked Deck HC.
DC should just pull these together and offer them as a single TPB.

ECC Ediciones, a Spanish editorial, has a collection of hardcovers called "Batman's Greatest Authors" and the Alan Davis volume contains just these six issues in a stunning format. If you don't mind it being in Spanish, it's definitely worth it. A second edition of the volume with the current DC logo is out next week and you can get it through Amazon's Spain site.
