I remember reading this adaptation as a 14 year old back in '79 or '80 (still have my copy of it) and thinking, "Holy crap! What kind of movie is this?!" My older cousin had to tell me it was an exaggeration or a parody of the actual movie. Needless to say it may have scarred me for life.
