I have never written a prediction on the Dork Review. But yesterday while discussing the future of DC's Gunn-verse with one of my buddies - an idea came to mind. An idea which made sense to me based on the current info available. Here is my prediction...
James Gunn is NOT rebooting the Syder-verse, BUT building on it. It will be about the passing of the torch from one generation to another.
What we know...
- If it was a reboot the Flash movie would happen AFTER Aquaman 2 not before.
- Aquaman 2 is supposed to lead right into Superman Legacy (probably with a Post Credit scene)
- Blue Beatle & Shazam still exist in this verse.
- Gunn said there will be a Season 2 of Peacemaker, which takes place in the Syder-verse
- Waller is getting her own series who played a large part in the Syder-verse
- Weasel survived Suicide Squad, which is in the Syder-verse and now will be in Creature Commandos.
What I think...
- Superman Legacy is going to be about Supergirl coming to Earth and taking up the mantle of Earth's protector. Superman will be passing the torch to her. A large part of the film will involve a flash back story (starring a younger Superman) tied to a present day story. Henry Cavill will be in it as the present day Superman. The idea he is totally out as Superman is a Gunn-ruse.
- Brave & Bold takes place BEFORE the Syder-verse Batman. It will star a younger Batman (not Ben Affleck) trying to raise Damian (Robin) after Jason Tood has been killed.
- Paradise Lost will set up a replacement story for Wonder Woman - Donna Troy.
- Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be a prequel to Superman Legacy and tell the story of her journey to Earth.
- Booster Gold, Green Lantern series & the Swamp Thing will set up the villain.
This will lead to..
- Supergirl will be the new "Superman", Robin will be the new "Batman". I believe this will lead to the "Next Generation" of heroes taking up the mantle to fight the main villain. New teams will form - like the "Titans". In the process of fighting & defeating the main villain the new generation of heroes will lose their moral compass, becoming as reckless and violent as the villains they fight.
It will end with...
- The Kingdom Come storyline, which will take place over a three movie arc (along with TV life action/animated series, & games) will star Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, & Jason Momoa returning to their super-hero roles. Zachary Levi will play Shazam.
Now we wait and see - the Dork! :)
Anything that leads to Kingdom Come which has to end with old man Superman watching the Legion of Superheroes in full flight just like the comic is okay with me. I think your theory is a solid as anything to come out of DC lately. I like to see someone with a vision for once,.

ReplyDeleteI have to say... I like James Gunn... but this line up of projects is extreeeeemy lackluster. And the DCU is really confusing for me, a 50-year comics reader... Normies are going to have a lot to sort through with all this. I mean, there have been 4 different Batman's in the past few years. There is no shortcut to building a universe. How about making just one good Superman movie, and then let's work from there.
