Rob's Room: I'm beginning to suspect X-Men #141 has the most recreations of any comic cover...

Updated: 08/05/17: This is one of those posts that will forever get updates! Let me know if you learn of any others in the comments section and I will add 'em!

Cover of The Uncanny X-Men 141 (Jan, 1981). Art by John Byrne and Terry Austin.

I think this one counts...
I love this X-Men; Days of Future Past commission by Arthur Adams!
Dork Note: I have always wondered how John Byrne came up with the idea. Now I don't have any insight beyond speculation. However, seeing the splash page from Iron Fist #10 done by John Byrne in 1979 the root of his idea is apparent.
Rob's Room Note:  I also found this What If? cover from 1978

What a great collection of covers that I had no idea existed. Talk about Iconic.

Byrne has said that Ed Hannigan is the one who designed the cover for X-Men #141. Byrne was following Hannigan's layout.

John, that's cool - do you have a link to where Byrne said that? To own that cover is one of my Lottery dreams!

Sorry, just saw this. It was *somewhere* on his Forum, but I'm not sure what thread it would have been. If I find it, I'll be sure to link it here.

I cannot believe there are over 100 iterations of this cover! Every time I see a variation of this, I obsessively check to see if it's been included here (usually, it is...).

I wonder if anyone has ever suggested to the Guinness Book of World Records that this cover should be included in their publication!

That is an amazing selection. I knew this one was the most imitated but not by that many artists. Very cool. Loved the original cover so much.
