i'm afraid even reprinting ROM back issues in any form isn't gonna happen as long as this licensing drama is still going on. but there is this ROM centric blog site that might give you your weekly spaceknight fix: http://www.romspaceknightart.blogspot.com/
David H. do you know where ROM sits legally right now? Who owns it etc.?
Apparently Hasbro owns it now, or at least has a licensing deal with the toy's creator... and it's being published in new comics by IDW... they're really good, too.
In the past, specifically with Dark Horse, if they acquired a license (like Conan or Star Wars), it entitled them to reprint the earlier Marvel stuff... but ROM is so entrenched in the Marvel Universe, I don't know if that will ever happen.
And Hasbro's plans are for ROM to be a part of their "cinematic universe" alongside Micronauts, GIJoe, M.A.S.K., and Transformers.
Rom is one of my all time favorite characters of all times. I have a special personal connection with the character. I so wish I could get a version of the toy from the 70s even a reproduction would be fine with me as long as it had all the electronic functions of the original. Once IDW took away Rom's mitten hands I knew that they had not gotten things right. Rom would be a terrific member of the Guardians of the Galaxy in part 3.
